Just Back From – Samujana Villas, Koh Samui

Thailand must be one of my favourite destinations, having been to many different places across Thailand this was my first time on the Island of Koh Samui, so I was excited to visit.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Samujana Villas with my Swords Travel colleagues and it was an experience that exceeded every expectation. They are located in Choeng Mon,  only a short 10 minute drive from the airport. Offering a collection of private villas perched on a hillside, each with breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Known for it’s exclusivity, privacy and personalised service. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel like a VIP thanks to the impeccable service and attention to detail

Villa Experience

I stayed in a 5 bedroom villa (I’d like to add not to myself!) that had everything I could have dreamed of and more. The highlight was undoubtedly the Infinity pool. I started every morning with a swim taking in the spectacular ocean views, and our wonderful villa host would bring me a fresh coffee poolside, a ritual I could happily get used to! A small but memorable luxury that really sets Samujana Villas apart.

The villa itself was expansive with plenty of room for everyone to relax and unwind. It came with it’s own gym (though I have to admit, the infinity pool was more tempting!) a fantastic cinema and games room. Every corner of the villa has been thoughtfully designed to provide ultimate comfort and privacy, whilst still offering conveniences of a luxury hotel.

They do not have an onsite restaurant but you don’t miss it for a second because the chefs come to you! We enjoyed a fabulous thai night and the flavours were incredible and also an in house BBQ which was perfect for a relaxed evening.

Exploring Koh Samui

Whilst the villa was hard to leave, Koh Samui is an island full of amazing sights and experiences. One of the highlights was a visit to fisherman’s village which was only a 15 minute taxi ride away and family friendly. It’s a great place to wander around, with lovely shops, restaurants and a great night market. Take a visit to Coco Tams for an amazing fire show on the beach, you won’t be disappointed! Not to be missed is the Big Buddha which is one of Koh Samui’s famous landmarks. It was just a short drive from Samujana and it was great to get a sense of the island’s culture.

Top Tips from my visit to Koh Samui

  1. If you love dining out, take a visit to ‘2 Fishes Samui’ A top recommendation for seafood lovers and the waterfront location is beautiful. Pop here before a night at Fisherman’s village, it’s so close by.
  2. Enjoy a day out at Wild Cottages Elephant Sanctuary Resort. Top Tip – Purchase a VIP day pass which includes lunch and then a memorable experience feeding the elephants . Definitely go for a dip in the infinity pool and watch the elephants roam , something I won’t forget!
  3. Travel off peak. It means less people and crowds which was perfect for us when visiting the Big Buddha, a popular tourist attraction.
  4. Looking for a lively night out then take a taxi or Songthaew to Chaweng only a short drive from Samujana but a fun night out!
  5. Be sure to check out the days the night market is on at Fisherman’s Village as this is a great time to visit and enjoy some local street food and wander around the market.
